As with many who came to Jesus asking questions, Jesus can see right through to our motives. This was not a sincere question, but it was a sincere answer - actually two questions. First, "What does God say?" and secondly, "What spin am I trying to put on it?" God has revealed His truth and made Himself perfectly clear. But that's not always what we're looking for.
