But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.(Luke 11:17-19 ESV)
Jesus here warns these Pharisees against something we all should beware: Inconsistent thought. They accused Him of driving out demons through the power of Satan. How absurd! He also addresses the fact that this is a double standard compared to how they viewed thier own who did so - they claimed them to have the power of God. If they did, He did allt he more. What inconsistent thoughts do we have to try to excuse our lack of response to God's clear truth?
