What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? (Luke 11:11-12 ESV)
At first glance this doesn't even seem to be a good illustration. But Jesus was speaking to people very familiar with fishing in lakes, and with the haul their could be snakes mixed in. And there is a certain scorpion whitish in color whose body resembled an egg, which at quick glance could be mistaken as such. But a loving father would NEVER intentionally do so, because he loves his children. How much more then, can we expect our Heavenly Father to give us, his good children things that are not harmful for us, even though at first glance they may appear so. He answers our reqeusts for our good.
