The Amazing Ascension...

7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it says,
“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.”
(In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? 10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)
(Ephesians 4)
He ascended.  Two words which open up countless connections and thoughts. It's like looking at a location on a map and zooming out. Christ returned to the Father's right side, from where He is making intercession for us even now as I type these words. It means He successfully completed His mission to earth, and has now taking up position to represent us in prayer. It means He is giving grace to us - the ability to continue through this life in ways we cannot on our own. In the context before this, it means we can actually live in unity with other frail and sometimes frustrating fellow believers around us.  And in the paragraph to follow, it means that He is there superintending His Church from the place of perfect observation and operation to accomplish what He plans and purposes. He ascended. I'm astounded.  May we live life today and together in such a way that we appreciate, acknowledge and apprehend that He has ascended.
