In Christ or in Denial...

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8)
The land of the Free... "Freedom" is a word so entrenched in our society we have come to lose its meaning.  Everyone wants to cling to their rights, their "freedoms" to do as they choose.  But we all know (at least deep down inside), that many of these "freedoms" are not freedoms at all. We are enslaved to sins, to stuff, to ways of doing things that keep us from being truly free.  We claim that we don't want to be "anybody's slave", but actually become ones to those things we "feel free" to do, say and think.  Christ has come to take every thought captive, to give us His Spirit to help filter our words, and to defeat sin. He is the way to true freedom. Accept His sacrifice. Submit to His Lordship. Follow where He leads: to the place of true freedom.
