Let the Fountain Flow...

Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
    your judgments are like the great deep;
    man and beast you save, O Lord.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
    The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house,
    and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
    in your light do we see light.
(Psalm 36)
I came out to my car last night to find... rain.  I looked at the 24-hour forcast: rain.  I woke up during the night to hear: rain. My sinuses tell me what it is and is going to do: rain.  I don't always like it, but we need it. God is described as this big bowlful of overflowing blessings, this fountain of life.  It is in His character to give: to abundantly provide what we need, to make wise and fair decisions on our behalf, and to save us when we get in a mess. A fountain flows freely, making easy and open access for us to drink. That is what God does for us daily, especially through the blessings of salvation in Christ and the indwelling Holy Spirit. Today, let's be thankful for the rain, and especially grateful for the Fountain of Life.
