Songs of Renewal #22

PSALM 122:1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
    praise him in the heights!
2 Praise him, all his angels;
    praise him, all his hosts!
3 Praise him, sun and moon,
    praise him, all you shining stars!
4 Praise him, you highest heavens,
    and you waters above the heavens!

The Psalmist continues on to call on the winds and the waters, the mountains and the hills, the sea creatures, land animals and birds, then finally to all kings and peoples of the world to praise the name of the Lord.  Why? Often we begin to think we are alone in all of this. We cannot hear the song being sung around us. All of the noises of this world and in our mind drown the praises out. But there is, at all times, a song being sung.  We need to just start singing, then we will hear the rest of creation singing along: Praise the Lord!
