Revelation 21: 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega. As many of you know Alpha is the first letter of the Greek letter and Omega is the last. So in English it is like our phrase "A to Z" and everything in between. It means that He covers everything from the very beginning to the final conclusion, and He will be there even after that. He was there at creation, and He will be there at the culmination of all things. As the closing statement says, that especially has to do with life. As John says in his prelude to His Gospel "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. Jesus was the light at the beginning and He is the light at the end of the tunnel, and He has everything we need in between.
