Revelation 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star. ”17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price."
Here we have Jesus making one of those "I AM" statements. We are very familiar with Him being referred to as a descendant of David, but here He adds The Bright Morning Star. This is a term used for a "bright planet or start in the eastern sky just before daybreak."* As such, it is a sign of hope for a new day. It is a symbol and reminder of new life. It makes us want to greet the day! Our response should be like that of the Bride, saying "Come on! I cannot wait!" May that be the kind of anticipation we have as we think about Christ coming back: "Come, Lord Jesus, Come." May we look to Him as our bright morning star.
