29 By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned. (Hebrews 11)
The parting of the Red Sea. It is one of those miracles which unbelieving skeptics point to as "proof" that the Bible is a bunch of myths. It was very real to those who witnessed it. The people of Israel, though stubborn and spiritually sluggish, were able to see God dividing the waters for them to cross through. And what were the Eqyptians thinking? Obviously that this was some sort of geological occurance with which the God of Israel had no part, as they followed into the divided area as if they were in full control. The faith of Israel - as weak as it was - allowed them to step out and trust God (when there's no other way out) and make it through. The foolishness of the Egyptians moved them to follow and be swallowed by the sea. Faith divides - into those who see and trust in God's hand, and those who think they are in command. Which are you?
