Coming Out, Going In, Looking Ahead...

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. (Hebrews 11)
Moving. It was something I did not enjoy as a child.  I did not understand it. My father was called to pick up and leave one place to go to another and we went along.  Where is home? Not sure.  God had called on Abram to leave his home and go until He said to stop. Whereas he aquired great flocks and herds and a following of people, He never built any mansion. He lived as a temporary resident wherever he went. He lived life waiting for the time He would live with God in the place He is preparing.  Maybe if we lived such a life of faith, we would cling less to the things of this world, which are all so temporary, looking forward to our room in His palace as the place we really want, and are supposed to be.
