11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore. (Hebrews 11)
According to the Genesis record, Sarah at one time scoffed at the idea that she would ever have a child. She laughed. But which of us has never done the same? Our initial, and maybe repeated, response to God's call to faith has been one of misbelief. But then through the influence of imperfect but godly others (like Abraham), and the repeated prompting by God, we believe, trust, and see God do as He has promised. She never saw all the grandkids and beyond, but they surely came, and history has never been the same. It's an awesome thing to be surprised by faith. May God surprise you today.
