Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 ESV)
When Christ came at His incarnation, He revealed the character of God. Sandwiched in between His offering the way to a restored relationship between God and man, and His provision of life eternal to all who would trust in Him, was the meat of His nature. He is truth. The rival, the enemy, the imitator, is a Liar, and roams the earth spreading his lies. Christ came to dispell the lies: God is real; He does care about us; He is doing something about our sin and all the consequences of it. Those truths are found in Jesus, Who both shows and provides the way to God, Who reveals what God is really like, and Who has given His life to provide life for us.
So, as we celebrate His coming, let us celebrate Him as the truth we needed to see, to hear, and to trust.
