The Most Welcomed Words

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” (Luke 1:26-28)
The angels were busy at and before the Incarnation. They were delivering (singing?) telegrams about the coming Christ, and besides the twin reactions of fear and joy, there was this sense on each occasion that "God is with us, not against us." From the announcements to the parents, to the shepherds, and to the names He was given, like Immanuel, "God with us", His coming reminds us that the Lord is with us, and is to be welcomed, worshipped and willfully received and obeyed. Do you find comfort, joy, and a sense of awe when you hear those words: "The Lord is with you?"  If not, maybe you need to revisit these events and what they could mean to you.
