Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 ESV
What did people think when Jesus made this statement? Did their hearts and minds run back to statements like Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. (Isaiah 60:1), or The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. (Isaiah 9:2). Did the Light come on that He was their Messiah and our Savior? Does it ring true to us today? Do we see The Baby as The Light, our Light? Are we willing to step out of the darkness of our sin, our way, and follow Him in faith? The Light is on, saying "Come, follow Me."
