Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, (John 11:25 ESV)
When Christ came, it is no surprise that He talked about life - new life, abundant life, eternal life. As John put it in his introduction: "In Him was life..." - it is part of His character to give life. He had done it at creation, and He had witnessed the attack on life at the Fall. He came to do something about it - to bring back to life creatures who are dying - slowly and surely. These "death situations", which we all face, can do one of two things - make us bitter and hopeless, or put us on the search for life. Christ made our search attainable - He has brought us our life back. He, and His life, are the greatest gift we could ask for. Let us receive Him with joy!
