Pass It On! Or else...

 Psalm 78:1 My people, hear my teaching;
    listen to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth with a parable;
    I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
3 things we have heard and known,
    things our ancestors have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their descendants;
    we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
    his power, and the wonders he has done
.
Psalm 78 is the second longest psalm, shorter only than Psalm 119. That's because the Psalmist is looking back on a lot of history.  He begins with the giving of the Law of Moses and all the things God did for His people when He brought them to the promised land: delivering them from Egypt, through the sea, and past all those peoples trying to stop them.  He also provided a place of abundance and security. What had Israel done? Forgotten Him and forsaken Him. This was especially true of Ephriam, representing the northern ten tribes.  With all that in mind Asaph reminds us to remind the next generation of how wonderful God is and all He has done.  If we do not...  Let's not even go there; we want them to experience blessing, not curses.
