Getting to Know Jesus by Name #42: Jesus

Philippians 2:9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We are almost half-way through our study on knowing Jesus by name and are just now getting to the name we know Him by best: Jesus:  "God Who Saves; God is the Savior."* Throughout scripture and history there had and have been others with that name, or forms of it, like Joshua, but this One is the One Who defines it best.  The verses before those above retell the fact that Jesus left the glories of heaven to come down to be our Savior, our deliverer.  History is now filled with songs focusing on this one name: the name of Jesus.  As Peter says in Acts, His is the one name by which we can be saved.  Jesus is the name that someday every knew will bow before and every tongue confess: He is Savior and He is Lord.
