Celebration of Death

14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? 17 For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. (II Corinthians 2)
Today we will walk through a day which is for many a celebration of death. The skeletons are hanging everywhere. Even in the religious background, with the idea of "all saints' eve" is the fact that the saints are those who died for the faith.  We must make it through this day, realizing there is one death that really matters - Christ on the cross for our sins.  But we do not stop there; we move on to His triumph over death. For His followers, we are marching in a parade celebrating new life in him, as we go past those who are dying.  Let's invite them to join us in celebrating not death, but life.
