6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. (Genesis 3)
Actions speak louder than words. It never says here that Eve and her husband were "ungrateful", but it is obvious they were. They had it all in "Paradise" - the food, the flowers - everything fresh and new, but they wanted more. If there is any doubt in your mind that you would have responded differently, think again: we still see it somewhere in the corner of our lives (and sometimes front and center) - we always want more - not necessarily stuff, but also time, recognition, "fulfillment". And we expect God to always give us more. May we take time to really evaluate our expectations, and our ingratitude, and think about how we can truly "give thanks" - not only this month, but all year long.
