Whose "Let us..." are you going for?

10:32 These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, in their nations, and from these the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood... Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built. (Genesis 11)
The people were carrying out part of God's original design - to fill the earth. But they were not doing it for the reason He had in mind: to fill the whole earth with His glory.  As they became more "civilized" they also distanced themselves from this plan in order to rebelliously design their own plan, their own "let us". It is interesting to see in Biblical history how fast and far things go downhill when man ignores God and says "let us": "let us make for ourselves a king"... beware you who say let us go and do this and that....  It is a way of saying "no thanks" to God for His plan for us.  Much better to say: "Lord, what do you have for us today? Let's do that."
