5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. (Genesis 6)
This is the backdrop to the account of Noah and the Ark. It starts in the heart and mind. Every thought and intention of man was becoming evil. That means that none of his thoughts were turned toward God and good. This is total ingratitude - leaving God completely out of the picture. In a sense we could say that even if there were no evil intentions, plans and thoughts, the absense of thinking toward God and desiring to please Him were trouble enough. But then again, there will be no empty void: it's one or the other. There is no neutrality, gray area or DMZ. How much do you think about God in any given day? Week? Ever? Is He in your thoughts, decisions, and desires? Don't go through today "without a thought" of Him.
