I was going to go ahead with the next two verses that elaborate on this, but they can wait until tomorrow. Let's just focus on these words; let them blaze into our eyes, hearts and minds like a motto or slogan we cannot forget. It is more than an explanation; it is a startling statement. First of all, it calls into question our actions: Do we love? Secondly, it calls into question our motives: If we do loving sacrificial acts of service, do we do so for Him? For Self-recognition? For brownie points? Thirdly, this statement calls into question the quality of our love. Do our words and actions reflect the depth and character of Christ's love? Go ahead; let's make this verse our motto for the day, for our lives. Seven short words. One big lifestyle.
