Luke 2:36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Anna is a symbol of commitment. She spend most of her life waiting, fully trusting that she would see their "Redemption" come. Her actions proved it. Prayer and fasting, as well as her presence at the the temple. But she was not just "watching and waiting"; she was a prophetess. She was speaking the truth of God, so that, when the Redeemer did finally come, she already had an audience - those used to hearing her speak truth. Commitment is more than just attendance and "doing the right things"; it is living and speaking truth, so that people will trust you as much as you trust God. If we truly believe Christ is coming again, it will show in our presence with God's people, our talking of God's truth, and our living out Grace and Truth, just like Jesus did, while we wait.
