II Corinthians 9:6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written,
“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”
Among God's many perfections, He is righteous. He does the right thing in relationships at all times. Out of His nature, He gives. As part of our new life in Christ, He has made us righteous, and if we are submitting to His rightful place as King in our lives, we will refect His character. That simply means that we will also be generous givers. This does not mean that it comes easily or naturally; our fallen sinful world doe not work that way. But God is able - more than able - by His grace (ability He gives to do what we cannot do on our own) to turn us into givers. We need to allow Him the opportunity to teach and train us in this. We need to see it as sowing seed, as investing in our spiritual lives. When we allow Him to do so, we will learn that God will provide for us at all times, in every kind of situation. It's all part of growing in our faith, part of growing up. How will God offer us the opportunity today? What will we say?
