Presumptuous me...

Job 38 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Dress for action[a] like a man;
    I will question you, and you make it known to me.
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
    Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
    Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk,
    or who laid its cornerstone,
when the morning stars sang together
    and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
The "Encourgement Session" between Job and his three friends had gone on long enough.   Job had maintained his innocence of anything deserving the disaters that had fallen upon him, while his friends jumped to the conclusion that he must have done something henious. Both were wrong. But before dealing with his ill-advisors, God does address one thing in Job that we are all prone to: presumption.  We presume we have God and His will all figured out, and when things don't go according to plan we tend to presume the worst.  If we don't accuse God straightway, we automatically defend ourselves.  God is our Defender.  We may, and should, like David, call out to Him to protect us, but we don't need to tell HIM how to do it. He Who called the world into existence and made you and me a part of it is well able to decide how and when to do that. Let's not presume anything.
