1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.
In the Old Testament God is described as Jealous for His people, and it's a good thing, a protective kind of zealous love. Here, as Paul deals with those who were causing division, desecration, and disruption in the church, tearing it apart, he speaks in a similar way. The Church, God's people, the body of Christ, are His temple, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. We are to reflect His holiness, to be a people in whom the unseen Holy Spirit can be seen. The above-mentioned actions violate that representation and agonize the Holy Spirit of God. Do we have that Holy fear that refuses to make the Holy Spirit jealous?
