II Peter 3:8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
Patience: We want the Lord to have it with us... but get frustrated with Him because He has it with others. Like the Psalmist who is struggling, watching those who defy God seem to prosper while he suffers abuse and struggles in life, we often cry out to (or at!) God, telling Him to hurry up. We have an eternity to begin! We're tired of waiting! Our zeal consumes us. Peter goes on to say that we need to be ready at any moment, living and speaking the gospel as if the Lord will return today. But we also need to be ready to stay, to live this life as part of eternal life, anticipating the day, but making the most of TO-day. Don't worry. God's timing is right and good, and merciful and just.
