Jeremiah 1:11 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see an almond branch.” 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
13 The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.” 14 Then the Lord said to me, “Out of the north disaster shall be let loose upon all the inhabitants of the land.
As we saw yesterday, the Lord called a reluctant Jeremiah to be His prophet. We might call this part of his training process. God wanted Jeremiah to see what was going on as part of His plan, so that he could announce what God was doing and why. God goes on to explain to him that the tribes of the north, would come and besiege Jerusalem, but that they should not fear; God was going to use the occasion to punish the invaders. Jeremiah had to see things from God's perspective to speak and understand the truth of what was going. on. So do we.
