Seeing through the Smog of Sin...

Isaiah 1:24 Therefore the Lord declares,
the Lord of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel:
“Ah, I will get relief from my enemies
and avenge myself on my foes.
25 I will turn my hand against you
and will smelt away your dross as with lye
    and remove all your alloy.
26 And I will restore your judges as at the first,
and your counselors as at the beginning.
Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness,
    the faithful city."
As we arrive at the Prophets of the Old Testament, it becomes abundantly clear that all is not well among God's people.  Sin is rampant. Injustice is a daily occurrence. Immorality prevails. The fruit of evil is everywhere. Yet God is able to look beyond that to see what restoration will look like, and He gives a message of hope, calling his people to repentance, faith, and worship. That's what he calls us to see when we look at ourselves and those around us.  The Fall is devastating, even where it tries to hide. But hope springs eternal.
