12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Revelation 22)
We have just come through the time of celebrating Christ's coming to earth to accomplish our salvation providing us with new life, and the celebration of a new year and all the hope it brings. It may seem odd, but what we look to now is His coming again. Because He is the Alpha, the Beginner of all Beginnings. He was there at creation - before it all began. He was there at the beginning of the church, and He will be there at the beginning of the "end", which is really never, as He is Eternal and has called us to join Him when He beginning the new heavens and earth. Having Christ as the Alpha means that there is constant hope and purpose and meaning to this life, this year, this day. He was there at the beginning of this day, even if you were fast asleep (or wishing you were!). And He will be there at the end of the day, no matter how long it may seem. And He will be there tomorrow and next month and next New Year's, and forever. He will be there first. So fear not. He is already there.
