11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. (Titus 2)
Have you broken them yet? Those New Year's resolutions made on Monday? Have you started them yet? Those promises to diet, exercize and sleep well? These things all rely on us and our own will-power and determination. They all fail. God's grace never fails. His grace saves and makes things new. Training takes time. God does not expect or demand immediate perfection, but He does give us all we need for progress and the process of sanctification. In other words, there is no excuse for not changing. We look to the end goal: Seeing Jesus, and remembering why He did what He did: to buy us back to God and transform us into who He created us to be: people excited to live holy lives to please and praise God. So let's live a little! - By God's grace.
