15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?" (Revelation 6)
In the opening scene of this chapter, John is invited to "come" and see what lies ahead for the world, and it's not pretty: war, famine, sickness, and death pile up, as the sense of groaning increases: "How Long!?!" There is this struggle as God's people watch and wait for Christ to return, to fulfill all His promises of salvation. We cannot wait for Him to come. But many do not want for Him to come. In His own words, He has come to fulfill all righteousness. For those who have been made righteous by faith in Him, it is a glorious coming, but for those who refuse and reject Him, His coming is one in judgment, which makes them call out the way they do in the passage above. When He returns, no one can hide. Will you want to? Or will you be calling: "Come, Lord Jesus, come"?
