II Thessalonians 1:11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul was open and honest about himself. He was worst of sinners and least of the apostles. But yet he pressed on, knowing that it was by grace he had been saved, and by grace that he could carry out God's calling on his life. He longed to see this same scenario worked out in the lives of those he discipled, so he prayed for them - that every resolve for good - a word Paul often used for Christ-likeness, and every way that God was working His power in their lives, doing what they could not do on their own, would be fulfilled. The ultimate goal, however, is the same and always: that Chrsit be glorified in us. What a worthy prayer for us to pray for ourselves and one another: God's grace accomplishing in us what pleases and glorifies Him. May He do so today.
