Genesis 21:12 But God said to Abraham, “Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your offspring be named. 13 And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring.” 14 So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
It is not uncommon to find in scripture men of God getting themselves in deep messes. Abraham was a shining example. He had gone along with Sarah's idea to have a son through Hagar, only to have things backfire and Sarah now demand that he send mother and child away. Abraham had no easy option. He knew in his heart sending her away was not what he as head of the household should do, but he also had to live with Sarah's constant nagging. What to do, what to do. God tells him to let them go. Sometimes we get to the point that we cannot control things, and God steps in and speaks up, helping us make the hard choice. HE knows what lies ahead. We don't. Let's listen to Him
