Taking TIme to Marvel...

8 And they remembered his words, 9 and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, 11 but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. 12 But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened. (Luke 24)
The Resurrection was an overwhelming event for its first witnesses, and they did not even see it happen.  Imagine if they had? It would have been more traumatic for them than the guards who "became like dead men."  They almost had more than they could handle. They needed time to let it all sink in so they, much like Mary after the incarnation marvelled, and had to let it all sink in. It would take a long time for the fog to clear and the truth become solid in their hearts and minds. The problem we have is that we don't take the time to marvel like they did. We need to. This year we have it. Let's do it.
