Heavenly Heartburn

When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”  (Luke 24)
I have issues with heartburn - have for a long time.  What often happens is it wakes you up in the middle of the night.  Spiritual heartburn is different: it hits you when you are already wide awake. It intensifies your thinking and awareness, focusing on what you are hearing and processing. They say "seeing is believing", but heavenly heartburn takes you further, to deeper truth: Jesus is Alive, which means God is saying something of utmost importance about Who Christ is, why He came, and what He has accomplished.  Once we are "fully awake", we can see what we need to see: He is risen.
