Isiaih 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Yesterday I had the privilege of preaching at the City Mission, and was reminded of how important this fact is: Immanuel: God with Us. First, Christ Identified with us; He knows what life is really like; He does not watch from a distance. Second, Christ Humbled Himself, setting aside His glory, and then took our place, dying a criminal's death. Finally, He Saved us; He provided what we really need, rescuing us from Sin, Satan, and Death. Wow. God with us.
