Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."
Having concluded his review of the Law God has commanded His people, Moses zooms out to review the past forty years of wilderness wandering. God had provided for them everythig they needed along the way. He had been faithful. He then zooms out ever farther to look back and forward, from their time of slavery in Egypt and deliverance, to the future and their potential disobedience and exile. He wants them to comprehend the importance of obedience. Now he concludes the chapter by talking about the limitations of the lens. We can see no further into the heart and mind and plan of God than He reveals to us - they are a secret we cannon see. But we see all we need to: His revealed will and attributes. If we respond appropriately to what He has revealed we have all we need. If daily distributions were enough in the wilderness, then God's commands, corrections and character will be plenty to go though life by faith in Him. Living in the promised land can be great, if we are looking forward to the life to come, where we will see Him and His will with total clarity.
