God really cares about Children

He established a testimony in Jacob
    and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our fathers
    to teach to their children,
that the next generation might know them,
    the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
    so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
    but keep his commandments;
and that they should not be like their fathers,
    a stubborn and rebellious generation,
a generation whose heart was not steadfast,
    whose spirit was not faithful to God.

Psalm 78:5-8
Today is Children's Day.  We usually do not make a big deal about that, because in our society kids have come to rule. We focus our schedules, purchases and energies on keeping them happy.  The don't need more recogntion than they already have.
But God does have a heart for children. We see that in the way Christ acted toward them when he was on earth.  He sees their openness toward faith, He shows us they are worth investing in, and He watches how we treat children.  But He especially watches over whether they are being led to follow Him. He is watching for those children being born and yet to be born. (Can I hear a pro-life "Amen!"?)  He is watching to see if we will pass on faith or drop the ball. Will we be that rebellious generation that does not do what He calls on us to do? Or will we see children the way He does, and invest in them as He sees fit?
