The thread of hope - the promise of forgiveness

Numbers 5:5-7 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel, When a man or woman commits any of the sins that people commit by breaking faith with the Lord, and that person realizes his guilt, he shall confess his sin that he has committed. And he shall make full restitution for his wrong, adding a fifth to it and giving it to him to whom he did the wrong. Again, in Numbers, it is easy to get lost in the details of all the laws for how the Israelites were to live as God's people and miss the big picture. There is a thread that runs throughout the whole of the Bible - that forgiveness is possible with God. He makes a way and lets people know what that way is. It always involves confession - telling God that we have sinned, and then following His steps to forgiveness. For us that means accepting by faith what Christ has done on our behalf. He is faithful to forgive!
