21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 22 Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.
(Luke 24)
These disciples of Jesus had all but given up their hope. Thinking Jesus must not have been the Christ after all, they were down and discouraged, yet wondering what all this talk of angels and appearances meant. They needed someone to come along and give them a little perspective and a lot of encouragement. We are the same. It is easy for us to miss the big picture, get stuck in the details, and confused by conflicting reports. We lose hope. It's like when you lose your glasses: you need your glasses to find your glasses. You need someone to help you find that perspective to see hope again. Jesus is good at that. No, He's great at that. He will help point you to the truth (found in His Word) that applies to you. He will help you see that whatever it is, in Him there is hope.
