21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 22 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
23 Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
In recent events, the Disciples had seen Jesus perform great miracles, including the feeding fo the 5000. They had heard Peter's announcement of Who He was, and been sent out to witness the life-changing power of the Gospel. They had seen and heard so much. Did they realize how blessed they were? He wanted them to stop and consider; so should we. When we look at the truth we have learned from the scriptures, and the new life experienced in Christ, what have we to complain about? We have more history to look back upon, more science to confirm to us Untelligent Design and the wonders of God's creation, more opportunity than any others before us to hear/study/put together the pieces of Truth in God's Word. We are so blessed. Do we know it? Do we respond accordingly?
