Real Talk with God

11

PSALM 25:11-15
For your name's sake, O Lord,
pardon my guilt, for it is great.
12 Who is the man who fears the Lord?
Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
13 His soul shall abide in well-being,
and his offspring shall inherit the land.
14 The friendship[b] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes known to them his covenant.
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord,
for he will pluck my feet out of the net.

David says a lot of things here that reveal a real conversation with God, based upon a real relationship with Him. First, he admits he has great guilt.  This is true, but David does not overdo it; he does not say that he is too sinful or guilty to be forgiven. He knows God can and will forgive all sin confessed to Him.  He also summarizes well what havig a relationship with God does: it does not make life perfect, but it does make our soul "abide in well-being" - that peace of heart, knowing He is in control.  He also talks about their friendship - it is based upon a healthy balance of fear and covenantal love - love and respect. Finally, he knows he can trust Him to be there for him: He will "pluck my feet out of the net," helping David out when he gets himself in a bind.  The imagery we would use for our lives may be different, but are the truths the same. Is God your forgiving Father, your faithful Friend, who gives you the peace to know all is well?
