Ephesians 5:14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Having gotten to the climax of his letter - that we as followers of Christ are, indeed, involved in a spiritual battle - not with one another, but unseen forces of darkness, Paul then challenged his readers (and us) to get dressed for battle with spiritual armor: the truth of the Gospel, keeping our relationships with God and one another right, keeping peace to give us stability, facing each battle with trust that God is with us and wants what is best for us, conscious that we are indeed saved by grace, and studying and applying God's Word in every confrontation. This is to be our daily, constant wardrobe to stand against the sneaky ways Satan will come against us. May we put it on today.
