Romans 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
Every time I read this last verse it hits like a BAM of a drum or fist on a pulpit. We have chosen to worship what God has created instead of God Himself, BAM! The last phrase "who is blessed forever! Amen" rings out with a raised voice of a preacher pleading with people to repent. God is in every way worthy of worship - giving Him thanks and honor for all He is and all He has done, but by and large, we have turned our backs on Him and been wowed by the stuff of this world and what we do with it. It is a BAM of judgement we deserve. Fall on your knees, beg for forgiveness, raise your voice and praise, thank, and worship the God Who made it all, owns it all, and can tell us what to do with it!
