Worship by the Spirit...

Philippians 3:2 "Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh"
In the middle of this mostly positive and "joy-full" letter, Paul does give one stern exhortation about worship.  Still dealing with the transitional stage from Judaism to Christian celebration, Paul hits at the core issue: The Good News of Jesus Christ.  We come to God so freely and frequently now not by any ritual or rules, but on the basis of the accomplished work of Christ. Zero confidence in our flesh, ourselves; total confidence in Christ.  Watch out for anyone who tries to get you to think or act otherwise. We need to beware legalism just as much as we do those who try to lure us into open sin, if not more.  True worship is in spirit, but the Spirit, and in Christ alone.
