The Lord Spoke: "Setting Boundaries"

 Numbers 34:1 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the people of Israel, and say to them, When you enter the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan as defined by its borders), ...16 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “These are the names of the men who shall divide the land to you for inheritance: 

Having performed his last act of military leadership as commander-in-chief, God gave Moses instructions to pass on to the people and leaders for after he was gone and the people entered the land.  They needed to know where the outside boundaries of the land were (like anyone entering a new home) and also how they were going to set boundaries within that land(hence the leaders who would divide the land.  Our tendency is to blur the lines and cross over boundaries.  God had given us all sorts of "boundary" instructions in His word, which we often cross, and He has given us those who remind us where those boundaries are - not to be mean, but to keep peace in the land.  May we respect His boundaries and those who remind us of them.
