Walk and Talk with the Lord #10

  1. We've been talking the last few days about Moses walking and talking with the Lord. Today we want to look at their last walk together, in Deuteronomy 34

Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, 3 the Negeb, and the Plain, that is, the Valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. 4 And the Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.” 5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, 6 and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but no one knows the place of his burial to this day.

It's been a long run - about forty years of walking and talking with God. God had told him at every turn which way to turn and what to say. Most of the time Moses obeyed, but on a couple of occasions his pride rose above and so, he would not enter the land. But God gave him a glimpse: "Here it is." And Moses does not object. When you walk and talk with God, you come to understand that God's plan is so big it does not fit into our lifetime. Many of those who walked and talked with God got a glimpse of what God had in mind, but did not see it: Abraham and his multitude in the promised land; David and his plan for the temple; Daniel and the visions of the Most High God rising above every human empire; the Apostle John and his vision of God's plan for the churches he was leaving behind. For all of them, when it came to the end of their time on earth, it was okay. By walking and talking with God, they got a glimpse most people never do. Will you? It's time to start walking and talking with God.
