The End

20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6)
"The End". When those two words fill the screen at the conclusion of the movie, it causes us to stop and consider how we have just spent the last two hours. Where has it left us? Fulfilled? Confused? Sad? Happy? Angry?  So it is with life. Paul asks the ultimate question: What will the end of life be? What is the fruit that is produced? If we continue as slaves to sin, convincing ourselves that our selfish lives have produced happiness, the payoff will be eternal death,j which will leave one hanging the head in shame. But if we receive God's gracious gift of Eternal life, we will preparing to be with Him, daily living to please Him, and ultimately experience the fellowship with Him He has always had in mind. The words "The End" will in fact only be the beginning. What story will your life tell?
